Sullivan Dental Partners
Sullivan Dental Partners is a practice where "everybody knows your name." Dr. Rick, Dr. Sully, and our team are proud to have been serving friends and neighbors in the Brentwood area for decades. Once patients find us, they never want to leave - some drive over an hour to see us, and we have several patients who have seen four generations of Sullivans as their dentists. We think that says a lot about the kind of care you can expect to receive every time you visit!
We would love the opportunity to meet you in person, but until then, please take a moment to get to know us!
Richard Sullivan, III, DDS
I received my bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry from Rhodes College in Memphis. I then attended the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, where I graduated in 1988 as salutatorian with honors.
I’m heavily involved with many types of continuing education, including lectures, meetings, and hands-on demonstrations. Oral healthcare is constantly evolving. The new technologies, along with materials and processes, mean even more comfortable care and strong results for my patients. By staying current with these changes, I ensure my patients have access to the best care possible.
I have received numerous awards during my dental career, and I am a Fellow in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. I also belong to the following associations:
- American Dental Association
- Tennessee Dental Association
- Nashville Dental Society
- Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation
- American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
- Academy of Laser Dentistry
I love what I do, as it allows me to enhance each patient’s quality of life. Being a general dentist means I form relationships that last for years – and sometimes generations. I’ve practiced long enough that I am now seeing the children of patients who were children when I first became a dentist.
It’s truly an honor to be chosen by these families to care for their smiles.
As a fourth-generation dentist, the profession is “in my blood.” I have spent my entire life in and around the dental office. I have had the privilege of studying under my father and my grandfather. I have many patients now who have seen my grandfather, my father, me, and now my son as well. We are part of this wonderful community, and I cannot be more grateful to be allowed to care for the smiles of my friends and neighbors.
I’ve lived in Brentwood my whole life. My wife Linda and I were married in 1987, and our son, Richard Sullivan, IV, DDS, is a new member of the practice. Our daughter, Emily Anne Sullivan, is a registered nurse. We have three Pomeranians, too: Tank, Smith, and Wesson.
I’m an avid firearms collector, especially Smith & Wesson and Colts. I also enjoy waterskiing and wake boarding, Iron Tribe Crossfit, and photography
Richard Sullivan, IV, DDS
I graduated from the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 2011 with honors and received my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Tennessee College of Dentistry in 2015, where I received the Dean’s Award for Clinical Excellence.
As a dentist, I have the unique opportunity to truly impact people’s lives. When I’m relieving discomfort, straightening teeth and restoring function, or providing a beautiful and confident smile, I’m helping my patients look and feel better.
I am honored that patients come to me and trust me with their oral health. The lifelong friendships we build and strengthen during their visits are immensely rewarding. I love our conversations and what each person chooses to share with me. Not only does this create a bond, but it gives me insight into the best way to approach their oral healthcare needs.
I’m proud to be a fifth-generation dentist and to be joining my father in our family practice. Growing up in a dental family, seeing the fulfillment my father and grandfather found in their days, and witnessing the friendships they made with their patients; all these made dentistry the logical path. I have no doubt I made the right decision.
My formal schooling provided a great foundational knowledge with regard to dentistry. However, oral healthcare is a constantly changing discipline. With developments in techniques and technology, as well as new materials, it’s essential I remain current on the changes. By participating in multiple continuing education courses and attending meetings and lectures through the American Dental Association, I stay up to date with the developments.
I’m particularly excited by my continuing education in Six Month Smiles®, an accelerated, cosmetic braces solution that creates incredible smiles. I also completed Pinhole Rejuvenation with Dr. John Chao, and I am a graduate of Alabama Implant Education. In addition, I am a member of the American Dental Association, the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Most recently I have spent quite a bit of time furthering my education with implants. I am currently a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
I grew up in and have now returned to Brentwood, TN, following my four years in Memphis for dental school. It’s exciting to be home again, serving my friends and neighbors.
I married my amazing, beautiful, Godly wife Caroline in 2013. We met in our senior year at the University of Tennessee in social dance class. After several years of long-distance romance while I was in dental school, we were married on Kiawah Island in her home state of South Carolina. Caroline is extremely talented, having graduated in the top of her class at UT’s business school. Right now it’s just the two of us at home, but you never know what the future holds!
When we’re not working, you’ll often find Caroline and me walking at Radnor Lake or cooking an amazing meal. On weekends, we’re either wake boarding and waterskiing with friends and family or heading to Knoxville to cheer on the Volunteers!
Personally, I’m committed to my relationship to Jesus Christ and thankful for all I have been given through him. He is the rock in my life, my family, and my hobbies.
Meet Our Team
Amy L. - Dental Assistant
I’ve had the pleasure of working at Sullivan Dental Partners for over four years. I love the relationships I’ve developed with our patients. In fact, I think of them as friends rather than patients. We have great conversations and I look forward to their visits because I know I’ll hear the latest news. I am here to help our patients and doctors. I bring patients into the treatment area and make sure they’re comfortable in the treatment chair. Then I support them and the doctor during the procedure and keep them updated on what we’re doing.
I am a native of Baltimore, MD, and my husband Miki and I have been married since 1988. We have two wonderful adult sons, who are both married. Miki and I enjoy spending time with our grandchildren
Darlene - Dental Assistant
Our patients are some of the most incredible people, and I love that I spend my days with them. We share stories and laughter and often become friends. I have had the privilege of working with three generations of Sullivan dentists! I enjoy hearing about their families and interests and I find I learn a lot from our conversations.
I’ve been with Sullivan Dental Partners for nearly 30 years, and when I’m working with a patient, I focus on making sure they’re comfortable and at ease. I sit chairside and assist our doctors during procedures. At the same time, I talk with the patients, tell them what we’re doing, and make sure they’re relaxed.
I was born and raised in Franklin, and in my spare time I enjoy visiting with family, taking long walks, and going to the beach.
Melanie - Registered Dental Hygienist
I attended Darton College and have been with Sullivan Dental Partners for 17 years. I love spending my days caring for patients who, over time, become friends and feel like family members. It’s a great feeling to help people I care about improve their dental and overall health. I concentrate on dental education and helping patients understand why it’s important to keep their mouth healthy and how to do it. We talk throughout their visits, as I perform oral cancer exams, take x-rays, and clean their teeth.
I’m married, with three sons who fill our life with joy, laughter, chaos, and dirty laundry. I’ve lived in Tennessee for almost 20 years, but I’ll always be a Georgia girl. Go Bulldogs!
Mary Pat - Registered Dental Hygienist
I have been with Sullivan Dental Partners for 13 years, and I love making people feel comfortable in my chair. I want them to leave feeling good and knowing they have a healthier, brighter smile. While I clean a person’s teeth, take dental x-rays, and deliver fluoride treatments, I educate them. By explaining the connection between a healthy mouth and overall wellness, I help them understand why it’s important to take care of their mouth. We talk about good dental hygiene, healthy eating, and how to keep their smile beautiful.
I live in Smyrna with my husband Jim. We’ve been married for 36 years and have twin daughters. I love to work with flowers, cross-stitch, fish, and go to the mountains.
Pam - Registered Dental Hygienist
I attended Coastal Carolina Community College Dental Hygiene and am certified in CPR through the Allied Health American HEART Association. I am also certified in the administration and monitoring of nitrous oxide and local anesthesia. I have been with Sullivan Dental Partners for 17 years.
I love helping people overcome their dental fears, especially if they’ve had bad experiences. After working with Sullivan Dental Partners, I’ve learned that by listening to their worries without judgment, supporting them, and providing painless care at a pace they’re comfortable with, we’re able to overcome the person’s dental anxiety. Having someone tell me they’re looking forward to coming for their next visit is the best feeling! I provide dental education, perform oral cancer screenings, take x-rays, and clean patients’ teeth.
I’ve lived in the Nashville area since 1998. I have two adult children and have been single for 11 years. However, I am dating a great guy, and we love to play golf on the weekends. In my second season playing I got my first hole in one: nothing to it!
Kristina - Scheduling Coordinator
I completed my high school education in Amsterdam, Holland. I have been with Sullivan Dental Partners since October 2015. I love meeting all our patients and learning about their history with our practice. It’s a pleasure for me to watch as our patients achieve their ideal smile.
I grew up in Baton Rouge, LA, and in my spare time I like traveling, attending concerts, and spending time with my family and friends.
Kyndall - Dental Hygienist
I received my Bachelors of Science degree in dental hygiene from Western Kentucky University where I was President of the Dental Hygiene Class and received the Kentucky Dental Hygienists’ Association Award. I’ve been working in the dental field for nearly 10 years and have been with Sullivan Dental Partners for just about a year.
One of the joys of my career is taking the opportunity to build a unique relationship with each patient, as well as educating my patients about both their oral and overall health. I strive to provide an environment that is professional and informative yet laid-back and fun to ease the anxiety that is often associated with a dental visit. Loving my coworkers and having a blast every day is also a bonus!
I grew up in Hendersonville, and in my free time, I love doing anything outdoors! My husband and I love to hike and play with our sweet dog, Mozzie. I also enjoy traveling, gardening, cooking, attending sporting events, spending time with family/friends, being an aunt, and working out at Iron Tribe.
Celeste - Dental Assistant
I recently joined Sullivan Dental Partners, and I love the wonderful patients I get to meet and connect with every day! It’s such a pleasure to watch the change in someone when they realize they’ve achieved a healthy and beautiful smile. I enjoy all the diverse treatments we provide our patients to meet all their needs. And the people I work with are great!
I grew up in Midland, MI, then attended the Dental Staff School of Tennessee and spent three years of endodontic assisting. In my free time I love being with my husband of three years, spending time outdoors, and playing with my German Shepherd, Jetta.
