Root Canals in Brentwood, TN
We know that root canals don’t have a great reputation.
However, most of this is not the fault of root canal therapy, but the discomfort associated with the infection or abscess experienced prior to the procedure. The vast majority of the time, a root canal is painless and actually makes you feel a lot better.
Thanks to advances in root canal therapy, our doctors are usually able to save a severely damaged or decayed tooth in one or two easy appointments. At Sullivan Dental Partners, your comfort is our highest priority, and we’re pleased to use the state-of-the-art Wave One system to perform comfortable and efficient root canals.
How Root Canal Infection Starts
Inside your tooth is the pulp, which houses nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue that may become infected and inflamed due to severe decay, chips or cracks in the tooth, or other damage. Without treatment, it can cause further pain or lead to an abscess.
Root canals are necessary to treat the inside of the tooth when the pulp becomes infected. When we perform a root canal, we remove the infected pulp, then clean and seal the tooth. We may suggest restoring the tooth with a crown or filling for protection and normal tooth function.
Experienced, Compassionate Care
According to the American Association of Endodontists, more than 15 million root canals are performed every year. All this experience has left us with a wealth of information about how to make your root canal treatment more comfortable and efficient.
Dr. Rick and Dr. Sully have performed hundreds of stress-free root canals. Our team has decades of experience in assisting in many root canal procedures, and we’re sympathetic and sensitive to your concerns. We’ll do everything we can to make sure that you’re completely comfortable during and after your treatment.
Help for Our Anxious Patients
Our team understands that years of conditioning have probably left you with a pretty low opinion of this procedure, but we make every effort to keep you comfortable during your root canal.
Aside from our gentle approach, we offer nitrous oxide and oral sedation to help keep you calm during your procedure. We can prescribe a calming medication to be taken before your appointment so you arrive at our office calm and relaxed. Then you can just sit back and put your feet up while we restore your tooth to perfect health.
