Restorative dentistry is the spectrum of dentistry that deals with repairing broken or decayed teeth. Teeth are susceptible to decal and cavities and they can break down from wear over time. Restorative dentistry addresses these concerns and restores teeth to their natural form and function.
Traditionally, teeth were 'restored' with silver or amalgam fillings. These silver fillings were effective at restoring and filling cavities, but they were unsightly and predisposed teeth to break and fracture over time.
Newer techniques involve restoring or filling teeth with a bonded composite resin that is tooth colored. These tooth-colored fillings actually strengthen teeth as well as prevent the unsightly 'black holes' associated with the older amalgam fillings.
Dr. Sullivan and his staff are very experienced in the placement of these composite resin restorations. This is the primary restorative material that we use in our office and are proud of the way these look and feel to our patients.
