Patient
Care
We use the latest techniques to increase comfort during
our procedures. These techniques include using local
anesthetic delivered with the Wand (a computerized device),
and nitrous oxide sedation. Conscious sedation is available
for those who prefer it or for longer appointments.
These options are discussed with our patients during
the treatment planning consultation.
In our office, your safety is our highest priority.
Throughout the day, we perform a number of sterilization
procedures for your protection.
Patient Protection:
-
All treatment surfaces (countertops, chair surfaces,
lights, X-ray machines, and trays) are disinfected
with the most effective products available before
and after each patient appointment.
-
To ensure your safety, we follow a number of standard
sterilization procedures with instruments and handpieces.
First, all instruments are placed in an ultrasonic
cleaner in our lab. The instruments are then rinsed
thoroughly before being sterilized in an autoclave,
which runs for 20 minutes and reaches a temperature
of 400 to 425 degrees.
-
Staff members use masks, safety glasses, and new
gloves for each patient.
-
We use as many disposable items as possible. We
practice the Barrier Technique in which all clinical
items that are difficult to disinfect are enclosed
in disposable wrap.
-
We use an Instrument Management System in which
each set of instruments is sealed, sterilized, and
left wrapped until you are seated and ready for
treatment to begin.
All staff members are trained in proper infection control.
We will be happy to answer any questions you may have
regarding infection control and to give you a tour of
our sterilization facility. |
