Sullivan Dental Partners is a practice where "everybody knows your name." Dr. Rick, Dr. Sully, and our team are proud to have been serving friends and neighbors in the Brentwood area for decades. Once patients find us, they never want to leave - some drive over an hour to see us, and we have several patients who have seen four generations of Sullivans as their dentists. We think that says a lot about the kind of care you can expect to receive every time you visit!
We would love the opportunity to meet you in person, but until then, please take a moment to get to know us!
Richard Sullivan, III
I received my bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry from Rhodes College in Memphis. I then attended the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, where I graduated in 1988 as salutatorian with honors.
I’m heavily involved with many types of continuing education, including lectures, meetings, and hands-on demonstrations. Oral healthcare is constantly evolving. The new technologies, along with materials and processes, mean even more comfortable care and strong results for my patients. By staying current with these changes, I ensure my patients have access to the best care possible.
I have received numerous awards during my dental career, and I am a Fellow in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. I also belong to the following associations:
- American Dental Association
- Tennessee Dental Association
- Nashville Dental Society
- Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation
- American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
- Academy of Laser Dentistry
I love what I do, as it allows me to enhance each patient’s quality of life. Being a general dentist means I form relationships that last for years – and sometimes generations. I’ve practiced long enough that I am now seeing the children of patients who were children when I first became a dentist.
It’s truly an honor to be chosen by these families to care for their smiles.
As a fourth-generation dentist, the profession is “in my blood.” I have spent my entire life in and around the dental office. I have had the privilege of studying under my father and my grandfather. I have many patients now who have seen my grandfather, my father, me, and now my son as well. We are part of this wonderful community, and I cannot be more grateful to be allowed to care for the smiles of my friends and neighbors.
I’ve lived in Brentwood my whole life. My wife Linda and I were married in 1987, and our son, Richard Sullivan, IV, DDS, is a new member of the practice. Our daughter, Emily Anne Sullivan, is a registered nurse. We have three Pomeranians, too: Tank, Smith, and Wesson.
I’m an avid firearms collector, especially Smith & Wesson and Colts. I also enjoy waterskiing and wake boarding, Iron Tribe Crossfit, and photography
Richard Sullivan, IV
I graduated from the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 2011 with honors and received my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Tennessee College of Dentistry in 2015, where I received the Dean’s Award for Clinical Excellence.
As a dentist, I have the unique opportunity to truly impact people’s lives. When I’m relieving discomfort, straightening teeth and restoring function, or providing a beautiful and confident smile, I’m helping my patients look and feel better.
I am honored that patients come to me and trust me with their oral health. The lifelong friendships we build and strengthen during their visits are immensely rewarding. I love our conversations and what each person chooses to share with me. Not only does this create a bond, but it gives me insight into the best way to approach their oral healthcare needs.
I’m proud to be a fifth-generation dentist and to be joining my father in our family practice. Growing up in a dental family, seeing the fulfillment my father and grandfather found in their days, and witnessing the friendships they made with their patients; all these made dentistry the logical path. I have no doubt I made the right decision.
My formal schooling provided a great foundational knowledge with regard to dentistry. However, oral healthcare is a constantly changing discipline. With developments in techniques and technology, as well as new materials, it’s essential I remain current on the changes. By participating in multiple continuing education courses and attending meetings and lectures through the American Dental Association, I stay up to date with the developments.
I’m particularly excited by my continuing education in Six Month Smiles®, an accelerated, cosmetic braces solution that creates incredible smiles. I also completed Pinhole Rejuvenation with Dr. John Chao, and I am a graduate of Alabama Implant Education. In addition, I am a member of the American Dental Association, the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Most recently I have spent quite a bit of time furthering my education with implants. I am currently a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
I grew up in and have now returned to Brentwood, TN, following my four years in Memphis for dental school. It’s exciting to be home again, serving my friends and neighbors.
I married my amazing, beautiful, Godly wife Caroline in 2013. We met in our senior year at the University of Tennessee in social dance class. After several years of long-distance romance while I was in dental school, we were married on Kiawah Island in her home state of South Carolina. Caroline is extremely talented, having graduated in the top of her class at UT’s business school. Right now it’s just the two of us at home, but you never know what the future holds!
When we’re not working, you’ll often find Caroline and me walking at Radnor Lake or cooking an amazing meal. On weekends, we’re either wake boarding and waterskiing with friends and family or heading to Knoxville to cheer on the Volunteers!
Personally, I’m committed to my relationship to Jesus Christ and thankful for all I have been given through him. He is the rock in my life, my family, and my hobbies.
Raley Therapy Dog
Raley is the newest member of our team! She is a fun, loving, and laid back yellow labrador. This spring Raley was certified as a Therapy Dog by K9 Off-Leash. If you or your kids are super anxious let us know and we will bring Raley out to love on you and help you relax! ;) And don't worry, Raley spends most of her time in the front office or in the Drs. office so if you're allergic or not a dog person, we totally understand. She can't wait to meet you!
Registered Dental Hygienist
I attended Darton College and have been with Sullivan Dental Partners for 17 years. I love spending my days caring for patients who, over time, become friends and feel like family members. It’s a great feeling to help people I care about improve their dental and overall health. I concentrate on dental education and helping patients understand why it’s important to keep their mouth healthy and how to do it. We talk throughout their visits, as I perform oral cancer exams, take x-rays, and clean their teeth.
I’m married, with three sons who fill our life with joy, laughter, chaos, and dirty laundry. I’ve lived in Tennessee for almost 20 years, but I’ll always be a Georgia girl. Go Bulldogs!
Registered Dental Hygienist
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Western Kentucky University. I had moved to Bowling Green, KY. From Paducah, KY where I grew up for 13 years. I moved to Nashville almost two years ago and love living in the city. I have been working in dentistry for a year and a half and love working for such an awesome practice.
Our team makes coming to work fun and enjoyable and we try to make you feel the same way when you come to see us. Outside of work, I enjoy playing sports with friends. I grew up playing volleyball and basketball and still love to play those sport recreationally. Fun fact about me is that I have a twin sister.
Dental Sleep Coordinator
I received my Bachelor of Science degree at the University of TN in Knoxville, which is where I also met Dr. Sully. I was good friends with Dr. Sully through college, and we always joked about getting to work together one day. After graduation, I went on to dental hygiene school in Chattanooga and received my RDH license. My husband and I lived there for a few years and just recently moved to Nashville. Now I am getting to work for Dr. Sully like we always talked about. It is so fun having someone that was a
groomsman in our wedding as a boss!
In addition to being a dental hygienist, I am trained as a Sleep Apnea Specialist. At Sullivan Dental Partners, we have a separate branch called Sleep Better Tennessee where work hand in hand with patients that struggle with snoring and sleep apnea from the beginning to end. It is so rewarding to witness the progress for patients after undergoing treatment for a life-threatening condition.
I grew up in Clarksville, TN so after moving to Knoxville and Chattanooga, I finally get to be closer to my family and a part of an awesome dental practice. My husband and I love traveling to anywhere and everywhere, trying new restaurants, and of course, Tennessee sports…our puppy’s name is Rocky, for Rocky Top obviously! I am so happy to be a part of Sullivan Dental Partners where it does not feel like a dental office, it feels like home.
