What Can I Expect at My Child's First Dental Appointment?
The appearance of your child's first tooth is an exciting time because it's evidence that their growth and development is taking off. It's also time to think about your child's first trip to the dentist.
At Sullivan Dental Partners, we know that the thought of your precious little one sitting in a dental chair can be daunting.
As a parent, you do everything you can to protect them from unpleasantness, and you wonder how this visit will affect them. This is especially true if you had a bad dental experience as a child; the last thing you want is to saddle your child with a lifetime of dental anxiety inadvertently.
Relax, We've Got This
One of the most important things we keep in mind when treating kids is that their first experiences must be positive. Taking time with them now helps kids develop a good attitude about their oral health that will last into adulthood.
Our team has an excellent track record of treating kids; many of our adult patients started with us as children and had such positive experiences that they trust us with their own children's dental care.
We Ensure Your Child's Comfort
Your child's comfort means everything to us! Our team has decades of experience and knows that dental visits can be stressful for kids. We take our time and never rush a child into treatment who isn't ready.
One way we can help fearful kids is with nitrous oxide sedation. Nitrous is safe and effective and helps kids relax so we can provide them with the high-quality care they deserve.
If you like, we'll be happy to introduce your child to Raley, our certified therapy dog. Raley is a sweet Yellow Lab who loves to cuddle with children (and adults!) during treatment to help them feel safe and secure.
