At what age should my child have their first dental appointment?

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends bringing your child to the dentist on or around their first birthday. By this time, the first tooth (or teeth) may be pushing through the gum.

These early visits allow the dentist to monitor tooth eruption to ensure oral development is on pace and that everything is progressing as it should.  

Of course, if you notice oral health issues or feeding problems before the first birthday, we encourage you to book earlier. In some cases, feeding challenges can mean a tongue or lip tie.
