Meet the Team at Sullivan Dental Partners

Sullivan Dental Partners is a practice where "everybody knows your name." Dr. Rick, Dr. Sully, and our team are proud to have been serving friends and neighbors in the Brentwood area for decades. Once patients find us, they never want to leave - some drive over an hour to see us, and we have several patients who have seen four generations of Sullivans as their dentists. We think that says a lot about the kind of care you can expect to receive every time you visit!

We would love the opportunity to meet you in person, but until then, please take a moment to get to know us!

Richard Sullivan, III , DDS | Sullivan Dental Partners

Richard Sullivan, III, DDS

I received my bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry from Rhodes College in Memphis. I then attended the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, where I graduated in 1988 as salutatorian with honors.

I’m heavily involved with many types of continuing education, including lectures, meetings, and hands-on demonstrations. Oral healthcare is constantly evolving. The new technologies, along with materials and processes, mean even more comfortable care and strong results for my patients. By staying current with these changes, I ensure my patients have access to the best care possible.

I have received numerous awards during my dental career, and I am a Fellow in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. I also belong to the following associations:

  • American Dental Association
  • Tennessee Dental Association
  • Nashville Dental Society
  • Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation
  • American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
  • Academy of Laser Dentistry

I love what I do, as it allows me to enhance each patient’s quality of life. Being a general dentist means I form relationships that last for years – and sometimes generations. I’ve practiced long enough that I am now seeing the children of patients who were children when I first became a dentist.

It’s truly an honor to be chosen by these families to care for their smiles.

As a fourth-generation dentist, the profession is “in my blood.” I have spent my entire life in and around the dental office. I have had the privilege of studying under my father and my grandfather. I have many patients now who have seen my grandfather, my father, me, and now my son as well. We are part of this wonderful community, and I cannot be more grateful to be allowed to care for the smiles of my friends and neighbors.

I’ve lived in Brentwood my whole life. My wife Linda and I were married in 1987, and our son, Richard Sullivan, IV, DDS, is a new member of the practice. Our daughter, Emily Anne Sullivan, is a registered nurse. We have three Pomeranians, too: Tank, Smith, and Wesson.

I’m an avid firearms collector, especially Smith & Wesson and Colts. I also enjoy waterskiing and wake boarding, Iron Tribe Crossfit, and photography

Richard Sullivan, IV, DDS

I graduated from the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 2011 with honors and received my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Tennessee College of Dentistry in 2015, where I received the Dean’s Award for Clinical Excellence.

As a dentist, I have the unique opportunity to truly impact people’s lives. When I’m relieving discomfort, straightening teeth and restoring function, or providing a beautiful and confident smile, I’m helping my patients look and feel better.

I am honored that patients come to me and trust me with their oral health. The lifelong friendships we build and strengthen during their visits are immensely rewarding. I love our conversations and what each person chooses to share with me. Not only does this create a bond, but it gives me insight into the best way to approach their oral healthcare needs.

I’m proud to be a fifth-generation dentist and to be joining my father in our family practice. Growing up in a dental family, seeing the fulfillment my father and grandfather found in their days, and witnessing the friendships they made with their patients; all these made dentistry the logical path. I have no doubt I made the right decision.

My formal schooling provided a great foundational knowledge with regard to dentistry. However, oral healthcare is a constantly changing discipline. With developments in techniques and technology, as well as new materials, it’s essential I remain current on the changes. By participating in multiple continuing education courses and attending meetings and lectures through the American Dental Association, I stay up to date with the developments.

I’m particularly excited by my continuing education in Six Month Smiles®, an accelerated, cosmetic braces solution that creates incredible smiles. I also completed Pinhole Rejuvenation with Dr. John Chao, and I am a graduate of Alabama Implant Education. In addition, I am a member of the American Dental Association, the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Most recently I have spent quite a bit of time furthering my education with implants. I am currently a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

I grew up in and have now returned to Brentwood, TN, following my four years in Memphis for dental school. It’s exciting to be home again, serving my friends and neighbors.

I married my amazing, beautiful, Godly wife Caroline in 2013. We met in our senior year at the University of Tennessee in social dance class. After several years of long-distance romance while I was in dental school, we were married on Kiawah Island in her home state of South Carolina. Caroline is extremely talented, having graduated in the top of her class at UT’s business school. Right now it’s just the two of us at home, but you never know what the future holds!

When we’re not working, you’ll often find Caroline and me walking at Radnor Lake or cooking an amazing meal. On weekends, we’re either wake boarding and waterskiing with friends and family or heading to Knoxville to cheer on the Volunteers!

Personally, I’m committed to my relationship to Jesus Christ and thankful for all I have been given through him. He is the rock in my life, my family, and my hobbies.

Dr. Meghana Sthanam, DMD

I’m a life-long southerner, born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. I graduated in 2014 from Vanderbilt University, here in Nashville (Go Dores!), with a degree in Neuroscience and Biological Sciences. I graduated and worked in management consulting, after which I returned to school to receive my Doctorate in Dental Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2019. Furthering a desire to continue and expand my dental education (I’m a life-long learner), I was fortunate to earn the opportunity to complete a residency in General Dentistry Practice at the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. I was able to expand my practical knowledge in all aspects of dentistry - from medically complex patient management to sedation, to emergency dental treatment.

I am so excited to join the team at Sullivan Dental Partners as their new dentist. I have enjoyed guiding my patients to an understanding and exploration of their dental needs. It has been most rewarding to experience, along with my patients, the transformations from dental issues and concerns to health and esthetics. My goal is to develop a symbiotic relationship between provider and patient, where we provide a compassionate, proactive clinical environment, nurture independence, and emphasize home care. As a daughter of scientists, I appreciate that oral health cannot be divorced from overall health and I strive to approach my patient care holistically. I very much value the trust that my patients place in my hands and I am honored to be your choice of dentist to guide you through this journey.

I am delighted to return to Nashville, my favorite city, and can’t wait to explore all the changes that have happened since I left. I’m an avid crafter and in my free time I love to knit, embroider (or “paint with thread”), and do pottery. I also love traveling and try to explore this country and world as often as I can. One of my biggest draws to return to Nashville was the live music scene, and I can’t wait to be part of a crowd enjoying music again. I enjoy volunteering for organizations that address homelessness and access to health/dental care. In dental school, I was lucky to spend time in Washington, DC, and Montgomery, AL, personally urging our lawmakers to pass laws that increase patients' access to quality dental care, addressing the opioid crisis, and student loans. One of my most rewarding experiences in my residency was when we dedicated our clinic to serving patients with special needs who so often were unable to find providers that would treat them. I plan on bringing these services and passions with me throughout my career.

I thank Dr. Rick, Dr. Sully, and the entire team at Sullivan Dental Partners for allowing me to serve Brentwood. I hope to see you soon!

Scheduling Coordinator Ashley | Sullivan Dental Partners

Scheduling Coordinator

I attended Dental Staff School of TN and graduated in 2013 as a registered dental assistant. I found that my true passion is working with patients on the front end of things. I love working with our patients and getting to know all of them. I have been working at Sullivan Dental Partners since February 2017.

Working for a 4th generation practice is an honor. I grew up in Hendersonville, Tn. I currently live in Madison, Tn with my family. I have been with my husband for 12 years, and we have 1 daughter. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I also love anything to do with the outdoors and going to concerts.

Dental Sleep Coordinator Aubrey | Sullivan Dental Partners

Treatment & Dental Sleep Coordinator

I received my Bachelor of Science degree at the University of TN in Knoxville, which is where I also met Dr. Sully. I was good friends with Dr. Sully through college, and we always joked about getting to work together one day. After graduation, I went on to dental hygiene school in Chattanooga and received my RDH license. My husband and I lived there for a few years and just recently moved to Nashville. Now I am getting to work for Dr. Sully like we always talked about. It is so fun having someone that was a
groomsman in our wedding as a boss!

In addition to being a dental hygienist, I am trained as a Sleep Apnea Specialist. At Sullivan Dental Partners, we have a separate branch called Sleep Better Tennessee where work hand in hand with patients that struggle with snoring and sleep apnea from the beginning to end. It is so rewarding to witness the progress for patients after undergoing treatment for a life-threatening condition.

I grew up in Clarksville, TN so after moving to Knoxville and Chattanooga, I finally get to be closer to my family and a part of an awesome dental practice. My husband and I love traveling to anywhere and everywhere, trying new restaurants, and of course, Tennessee sports…our puppy’s name is Rocky, for Rocky Top obviously! I am so happy to be a part of Sullivan Dental Partners where it does not feel like a dental office, it feels like home.

Registered Dental Hygienist Melanie | Sullivan Dental Partners

Registered Dental Hygienist

I attended Darton College and have been with Sullivan Dental Partners for 17 years. I love spending my days caring for patients who, over time, become friends and feel like family members. It’s a great feeling to help people I care about improve their dental and overall health. I concentrate on dental education and helping patients understand why it’s important to keep their mouth healthy and how to do it. We talk throughout their visits, as I perform oral cancer exams, take x-rays, and clean their teeth.

I’m married, with three sons who fill our life with joy, laughter, chaos, and dirty laundry. I’ve lived in Tennessee for almost 20 years, but I’ll always be a Georgia girl. Go Bulldogs!

I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Western Kentucky University. I had moved to Bowling Green, KY. From Paducah, KY where I grew up for 13 years. I moved to Nashville almost two years ago and love living in the city. I have been working in dentistry for a year and a half and love working for such an awesome practice.

Our team makes coming to work fun and enjoyable and we try to make you feel the same way when you come to see us. Outside of work, I enjoy playing sports with friends. I grew up playing volleyball and basketball and still love to play those sport recreationally. Fun fact about me is that I have a twin sister.

Registered Dental Hygienist

I have been in the dental field since 2014.  I started my career in dentistry as a dental assistant and went to Remington college to get my dental hygiene degree. I am so thankful for my path as a hygienist. I love my job because it allows me to get to know my patients and their families while also giving them the comprehensive care that they need. Our team at Sullivan Dental Partners makes it fun to come to work and we try to achieve that with our patients as well.

I grew up in Chapel Hill, TN.  We now live in Columbia, TN. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family, friends, my dog, my boyfriend, and his daughter, Avree Mae.

Registered Dental Hygienist

I have been a Dental Hygienist for a little over a year now, but I have been in the dental field since 2014. I started as a dental assistant with a specialty in orthodontics. I knew as early as my freshman year of high school that I wanted to go into the dental field. If I am not working, you will see me doing anything outdoors, exercising, or cheering on the Tennessee Vols. I grew up in Lebanon, TN and I am a very family-oriented person, thanks to my two sisters that I am very close with.  This makes me a great fit at Sullivan Dental Partners because it feels like my second family. I have such a passion for Dental Hygiene, and I love the relationships that I am able to have with my patients.  I can't wait to continue building these relationships in the future!

Registered Dental Hygienist

I graduated from Remington College in January 2019 with an Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene. I grew up in the heart of Spring Hill, TN where I still live today. I love working at Sullivan Dental Partners because as a team, we try to make each day enjoyable and upbeat. I’m grateful for the opportunity to get to meet so many awesome patients who are a part of this practice! One of my favorite things about working with patients is getting to know them when they come routinely for dental care.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, dogs, and now future husband. When I have the chance, I love traveling to the beach or Walt Disney World. When Fall comes around, cheering on our Tennessee Vols in Knoxville is one of my favorite things to do!

I am so thankful to be a part of Sullivan Dental Partners and work with such an amazing team!

Registered Dental Assistant Darlene | Sullivan Dental Partners

Registered Dental Assistant

Our patients are some of the most incredible people, and I love that I spend my days with them. We share stories and laughter and often become friends. I have had the privilege of working with three generations of Sullivan dentists! I enjoy hearing about their families and interests and I find I learn a lot from our conversations.

I’ve been with Sullivan Dental Partners for nearly 30 years, and when I’m working with a patient, I focus on making sure they’re comfortable and at ease. I sit chairside and assist our doctors during procedures. At the same time, I talk with the patients, tell them what we’re doing, and make sure they’re relaxed.

I was born and raised in Franklin, and in my spare time I enjoy visiting with family, taking long walks, and going to the beach.

I have been with Sullivan Dental Partners since December of 2015. I love the team I get to work with every day, and it is so rewarding for me to take care of patients, fixing any issues they may have with their teeth.  I specifically work with patients who are undergoing Adult Orthodontics and love seeing the progress that patients make while transforming their smiles!

In my time outside of work, I love hanging with my friends and family outdoors and attending music festivals. I live out in the country with 16 chickens, a vegetable garden, and the man of my dreams!

I am from Columbus, MS and have been a dental assistant since 2009. After moving to Nashville 6 years ago, I began working the front office with an oral surgeon but always missed chairside assisting. Since joining the team at Sullivan Dental Partners, I've had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful patients and I feel very fortunate to get to work with such incredible people. It is a great feeling to witness the happiness patients feel after they've had their smile restored.

I recently married my husband, Graham last summer. When I'm not working, we enjoy traveling together and spending time with our dog, Willie. I also love cooking and challenging myself with new recipes.
